The YWCA holds a special place in my heart as it played a pivotal role in giving my grandma and mom a safe haven. My grandma was the victim of domestic violence.

She is turning 83 years old this Friday. This giving back sale is in some small way a portion of my gift to her. It's been about 50 years since she left the abuse.

That decision is what paved the way to her getting her GED, meeting and marrying her true love (the best grandpa I could have ever asked for), and buying a lake property.

I spend a lot of time thinking about the women who came before me in my lineage. The hardships they faced, the constraints they were up against.

I won't quote a bunch of stats on how this pandemic has negatively impacted women. It's infuriating. Instead of feeling helpless, it's important to do what we can to support the organizations in our community that are providing support and resources.
