It was such a treat to work with Michelle’s Flowers for this shoot. I am a huge fan of Michelle’s work and I simply adore her as a person. Her willingness to say yes to me was such a gift and Michelle was such a joy to work with.
Her talent brought such softness and innocence to this project. She created a piece for each of the women to wear. The florals evoked each of the archetypes of maiden, mother, and crone brilliantly. Michelle was kind enough to send along some loose cut florals that went beautifully with many of our shots.
The white ranunculus on the Maiden’s hair piece was clean, fresh, and simple. It mirrored the maiden archetype of openness, naivety, and innocence.
The blush rose on the Mother’s hair piece spoke of women blossoming and opening up. This is the phase in women’s lives when we begin to truly discover ourselves and bravely begin sharing more of ourselves with the world, just like a delicate but robust flower unfurling.
The crown was the perfect adornment for our crone. It was a representation of the wisdom earned from years lived. It was full blossoms and fresh greens but with gnarled branches that made up the foundation. Reflecting how overcoming hardship and challenges makeup the foundations that carry us forward.
I am a florist/photographer living in the beautiful Canadian prairies. On the professional side, (although I am not what I would classify as 'professional' lol, I am a pretty simple gal who just really loves creating and capturing pretty things. It makes my heart happy!) To see + hear how much a bride loved their flowers/photos is icing on the cake. This right here is why I do what I do:
“Michelle created the most stunning wedding bouquets and boutonnieres for us this past weekend. I had no idea what I wanted and just showed her some pictures and talked about some different colours and she brought those ideas to life! So many wedding guests asked us where we had gotten the flowers because the bouquets were so beautiful and the flower choices were unique. Michelle was so knowledgeable and gave me different flower options to choose from. She was easy to work with and even gave us an extra boutonniere for the groom to use in the evening once the first one wilts a bit from being worn all day. Those subtle touches and thoughtfulness made the experience that much better. Thank you Michelle for the extraordinary wedding flowers!”
